Lingerie Football, Guys?

We all know that football is a male sport and only the outfit and gears are for male. However, it's 2011, there's going to be a female or a group of female that are out there and want to do everything that every male does. This is one of them. Lingerie football. How about it? I have attached a picture at the top and within this picture are lots of deep meaning and arguments. To point out the flaws, first the football line is very small and not like the professional football skirmish lines; second, there are no linebackers on the defending side; third, the refs are black males checking out these babe's from their front and behinds; and lastly, the females are not improperly dressed and geared for the game, it's almost like they are ready to put on a soft core game show for the refs or the few fans out there. Oddly enough, I saw this on the FOX 9 news Friday night!!!

What is really interesting about this picture are the female players. They are too skinny to be playing football and I am afraid that they will not last the standard 4 quarters of the game. In this sport, guys sort of slap ass as an appreciation from a great effort put into play, getting an interception, or getting a touchdown, etc. Now do these girls do the same? They they slap each other's ass or do they have a sexier way? It's a male's sport and these female are taking in position the gender role of a male! We talked last week about the genders of male and female in class and this is a great example of it. Culture is shaping the way as we, the society, think, envision, and physically do these activities. Cultural shift is not the only change, but we also have different social norms and approaches to gender roles in the 21st century. Female now can play all sorts of sports (football, rugby, aggressive male sports, etc.) regardless of their sex. Culture has a powerful impact when it is projected through the media. Everyone else seems to go along with the change without objecting and this often leads to how our vision of the world is being shifted and influenced consistently through the media.
