RE: Yuppy Puppy

Unfortunately, I was unable to post to the blog titled "Yuppy Puppy". I decided to post the comment by making a new blog after trying over 10 times. Anyways...

I really like this topic. There are lots of things that people might consider out of the norm such as geing gay for a guy which is not right as opposed to being a lesbian for a girl which might be also out of the norm but is more preferred than gays. Norms are just a way of classifying people and what we expect others to act and behave. Social norms comes from sterotypes. If we are expected to do something because we are classified to fit that category then we are being filed out. You were also stating on your blog about a black male walking around with a dressed up dog, but it ultimately comes down to the individual and his/her prespective of that black male and his dog. People might react, but maybe the black male thinks it's perfectly normal for him. What if he is an educated black male dressed up as an ghetto black male? Or he didn't have any ghetto way of speaking, but an educated way of speaking instead. Check this video out. It's sort of what you were blogging about. It's from White Chicks. Notice that Terry Crew portrays himself as a "white man" and is upset that there was a black person at the "all white" party.
