Everyone has the right to their opinions. Everyone, as a citizen of the United States of America, has a right to exercising the first amendment stating "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances" (Constitution of the United States of America). So here is my opinion: I DON'T CARE!! So many people get so wrapped up in their own opinions that they shut down to others opinions. They believe, in their minds, that it's either their way or the highway. When I see bulletins for Pro-Life, I nod my head and say "OK". When I see people walking into an abortion clinic, I nod my head and say "OK". When people start to profess their opinions on me, I continue to nod my head thinking "OK". If I were to open my mouth and protest their opinions, nothing good would come of it. We would only begin to debate until one of us has a sense of dominance on the other with a sense of pride in our minds. When in reality, both people usually get a sense of bitterness towards the other. All for what?? To prove that you feel strongly about something that the other person contest? Who cares??? Why can't we just respect all people for being people. You are living your life. You might know someone who has been raped and is thinking about an abortion. You do not know what it is like being in their shoes. You might be an atheist who is in a life or death situation. You might has supported the Occupy Wall Street protests this past fall. If you God is probably sounding pretty good to you about then. But now you're a hypocrite for preaching a life of nothing to others. So keep your opinions to yourself. Keep your mouth shut but keep your heart strong. The is plenty of room for peace in this world.

Why I don't care..

I think you make a good point about why we even have the problem with science and faith in the first place. It makes sense that if everyone just had their opinions and followed those themselves without trying to make other people follow them too then we wouldn't have this problem with science and faith being opposites. Your idea just goes to show that science and faith aren't inherently full of conflict. It is the people within those spheres that cause the conflict. If people just realize that they won't be able to convince someone of their beliefs, either way, and that everyone has a right to believe what they want then this conflict would slowly disappear because, as you show, there really is no inherent conflict between science and faith.
ReplyDeleteI really like this post. I definitely agree that we need to respect each other's opinions. I never like talking about my views and standpoints (this blog was hard for me) because so many people can disagree and disagree. Nothing ever gets accomplished. Like you, I just say, "OK" and "I don't care." I thought it was just because I was not an aggressive person but reading this post makes me realize that it isn't. It makes sense, and that is why I quite enjoy this post.
